The Venice Biennale
The Venice Biennale is one of the most prestigious cultural events in the world, held every two years in the heart of Venice. It showcases groundbreaking art and architecture, bringing together renowned artists, architects, and visionaries from across the globe. Each edition offers a unique theme, inviting visitors to explore innovative ideas and creative expressions through exhibitions, installations, and performances in iconic Venetian venues like the Giardini, the Arsenale, and beyond. It’s a must-see event for anyone passionate about art, design, and culture.
Every year alternates between two major exhibitions: Art and Architecture. While both are deeply rooted in contemporary expression and global dialogue, each edition brings something unique—transforming Venice into a city-wide stage of intellectual exploration and visual storytelling.
The 19th International Architecture Exhibition, known as Biennale Architettura 2025, will be held in Venice from May 10 to November 23, 2025, with pre-opening on May 8 and 9.
The curator of the event will be architect and engineer Carlo Ratti, who has chosen the title “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.” for the exhibition
This thought-provoking title invites visitors to reflect on the evolving relationship between intelligence in its natural, technological, and social forms. The exhibition promises to explore how architecture responds to, incorporates, and even anticipates the changes in our global, digital, and ecological realities.
From the Giardini and Arsenale to off-site installations scattered across Venice’s hidden corners, expect immersive exhibits, interactive pavilions, and ideas that challenge how we live, build, and connect.
Attending the Biennale isn’t just about observing art and design—it’s about experiencing a dialogue between cultures, disciplines, and the future of human living. Whether you’re a design enthusiast, a creative mind, or simply a curious traveler, the Biennale offers:
- International architecture pavilions curated by different countries
- Groundbreaking installations by leading architects and emerging talents
- Talks, performances, and exclusive events throughout the city
- A chance to see Venice from a completely new perspective
For the Venice Biennale’s opening ceremony, we recommend dressing in elegant and formal attire, as the event is a prestigious occasion. Men are typically expected to wear a suit or blazer with a tie, while women often opt for a cocktail dress or sophisticated evening wear. Comfortable yet stylish shoes are advised, considering Venice’s unique setting and the walking involved. Embrace a refined look that reflects the grandeur of this cultural event.
The Venice Biennale is a long-running event that spans several months. Depending on the edition (Art or Architecture), it typically opens in May and continues until late November. This extended duration allows visitors from around the world ample time to explore the exhibitions, installations, and cultural events showcased in iconic venues across Venice.
