Lake Como: Bellagio, Tremezzo, Cernobbio and Varenna
Lake Como is best experienced from the water: the villas and gardens face the lake, and the simplest way to move between Bellagio, Varenna and Tremezzo is a private boat with captain. We arrange the whole stay with partners we know: the private transfer from Milan or Venice with our own cars or partner chauffeurs we coordinate, boats with local operators, lakeside hotels and villas, visits and dinner tables, with one point of contact.

Where we take you
- Bellagio
- At the tip of the headland where the three branches of the lake meet: stepped lanes, the lakefront and the gardens of Villa Melzi.
- Tremezzo and the Tremezzina
- The west shore facing Bellagio, with the gardens of Villa Carlotta and, a little further south, Villa del Balbianello on the Lenno headland, best reached by boat.
- Cernobbio
- The first stretch of the west shore, a few minutes from Como: grand historic hotels on the water and the easiest base when arriving from Milan.
- Varenna
- On the east shore, with coloured houses on the lake, Villa Monastero and the Varenna-Esino railway station on the line from Milan.
- Como
- The town at the end of the south-west branch: the cathedral, the lakefront and Villa Olmo, the starting point for days on the lake.
Lake Como: your questions
How do I get to Bellagio from Milan?
The most comfortable way is a private transfer by car from Milan or from Malpensa and Linate airports, door to door to your hotel. Alternatively, take the train to Varenna-Esino and cross the lake by ferry or private boat. We arrange either option.
How far is Lake Como from Venice?
About 320 km, roughly 3 hours 30 minutes by car from Venice Marco Polo Airport, traffic excluded. We arrange the private transfer with chauffeur from Venice to the lake, also as one leg of a trip continuing to Milan or Switzerland.
Can I take a private boat tour on Lake Como?
Yes. We arrange private boats with captain through local operators, for half a day or a full day, between Bellagio, Varenna, Tremezzo and the villas reachable from the water such as Villa del Balbianello.
Which villas can you visit on Lake Como?
Among the most visited are Villa del Balbianello in Lenno, Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo, Villa Melzi in Bellagio and Villa Monastero in Varenna. Many open only in the warmer months and some limit entries, so we book visits and, where possible, private guides.
When is the best time to visit Lake Como?
From April to October. In spring the villa gardens are in bloom, July and August are the busiest months for hotels and boats, and September and October are quieter. For summer, book three to six months ahead.
Do you own the boats and hotels on the lake?
No. On Lake Como boats, hotels, villas and guides belong to local partners we select; we plan the trip, coordinate transfers and the programme, and remain your single point of contact.
