New Year's Eve in Venice
On 31 December Venice celebrates on the water: midnight over St Mark's Basin, gala dinners in hotels and palazzi, and on 1 January the New Year's Concert at La Fenice. Here is what to know for 2027 and what we arrange for you, from the boat at midnight to the ride back to your hotel.

Tips from people who work in Venice every day
- Book by November. Boats, gala dinners and rooms overlooking the Basin are the first to go.
- Decide where you will be at midnight. Moving around town between 11 pm and 1 am is slow: pick your spot and get there early.
- Book the ride back too. The after-midnight water taxi is fixed in advance, with the landing where we will wait for you.
- Dress for the water. On a boat at midnight it is cold: coat, gloves and closed shoes, even with evening wear.

Where can we watch the New Year's fireworks in Venice?
The midnight show takes place over St Mark's Basin. You can watch it from the waterfronts facing it, such as Riva degli Schiavoni, and from the water. In recent years the City has regulated access to the St Mark's area: the rules for the year come out in December.
Can we watch midnight from a boat?
Yes, under the navigation rules the Harbour Office sets for the night each year. Our captains know where boats may stop, take you there in time and bring you back to your hotel.
How do we get back to the hotel after midnight?
The easiest way is a water taxi booked in advance: it waits at an agreed landing and drops you at your hotel's water entrance. Vaporetti after midnight are very crowded.
Can you get us tickets for the New Year's Concert at La Fenice?
We can try. Tickets are few and in high demand, so we cannot guarantee them: write to us as early as possible with the number of guests and we will tell you what is available.
How far ahead should we book?
For a private boat, gala dinner and a hotel overlooking the Basin, book by November. A water taxi alone needs a few days, but for the 31st earlier is better.
