Redentore 2027 · Venice
The Redentore in Venice
On Redentore Saturday Venetians have dinner on boats and along the waterfronts, then wait for the fireworks over St Mark's Basin. On Sunday they go to church on the Giudecca and watch the regattas. Here is what to know for 2027 and what we arrange for you, from the boat for the night to the ride back to your hotel.
At a glance
- When is it?
- On the third Sunday of July. The big night is the Saturday: in 2027 it should be Saturday 17 July, to be confirmed by the City.
- What does it celebrate?
- The vow the city made during the plague of 1575-1577, which led to Palladio's Church of the Redentore on the Giudecca.
- Do you need to book?
- In 2026, for the first time, access to the viewing areas, on land and by boat, required a mandatory booking. The City publishes the 2027 rules before the event.
- Where do you watch the fireworks?
- From the waterfronts facing St Mark's Basin (Giudecca, Zattere, San Marco) and from the water, on boats moored in the designated areas.

Tips from people who work in Venice every day
- Follow the year's rules. In 2026 access to the viewing areas was booked on the official website, redentorevenezia.it. When the 2027 rules are out, we tell you what is needed.
- Plan early. Boats, waterfront tables and rooms overlooking the Basin are the first to go.
- Book the ride back too. After the fireworks everyone leaves at once: a water taxi already arranged keeps you away from the vaporetto crowds.
- Plan for the heat. July evenings are hot and humid: water, light clothes and something against mosquitoes.
