Film Festival 2027 · Lido di Venezia

Venice Film Festival

The Venice International Film Festival takes place every year on the Lido, between late August and early September, around the Palazzo del Cinema. The Lido is an island of its own: during the festival everything depends on getting between Venice, the Lido and the airport. Here is what to know for the 84th edition in 2027 and what we arrange for you.

Tables in Venice and on the Lido

We look for a table for lunch or dinner in restaurants we know, on the Lido or in town, on request and subject to availability.

Tips from people who work in Venice every day

  • Book the hotel now. Hotels on the Lido and in Venice fill up early for the festival: hold a room as soon as the dates are out.
  • Choose where to stay. On the Lido you are a short walk from the Palazzo del Cinema; in Venice you have the city at night, but you need a boat every day.
  • Book the evening boat. After evening screenings the vaporetti to Venice are full: a booked boat waits for you at the agreed landing.
  • Dress for the boat. Late August is warm, but on the water at night it gets windy: bring a light jacket, even with evening wear.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Venice Film Festival 2027?

The 84th festival will take place between late August and early September 2027, as every year. La Biennale announces the official dates. For reference, the 83rd edition ran from 2 to 12 September 2026.

How do I get to the Lido from Venice or the airport?

The Lido is an island, so you arrive by boat. From Venice by vaporetto or water taxi: from St Mark's a water taxi usually takes about 15-20 minutes. From Marco Polo Airport our water taxi takes you straight to the Lido.

Is it better to stay on the Lido or in Venice?

It depends on how much time you spend at the festival. On the Lido you are close to the Palazzo del Cinema; in Venice you have the city for your evenings. Either way, book early and have a boat arranged for the evening transfers.

Can you get us accreditation or red carpet access?

No. Accreditation and invitations are handled by La Biennale and the productions. Tickets for public screenings are sold by La Biennale. We take care of everything else: transfers, boats, cars and tables.

Are there cars on the Lido?

Yes, the Lido is one of the few parts of Venice where cars run. We arrange a car with driver to get around the island and for transfers on the mainland.
